Our dear friend Andreas picked us up in Florence on Saturday and we headed to the home we rented for the week in the small medieval hilltop town of Pitigliano. It is a stunning town perched upon a tufa cliff.
Our house is literally carved into the side of the rock.
The town has a fascinating and rich history dating back to the time of the Etruscans.

On our first day in Pitigliano, we traveled to Vulci and visited an old Roman road with both Etruscan and Roman ruins to explore as well as the town of Tarquinia, which has an Etruscan burial ground within the city.
The countryside around Vulci was breathtaking... Poppies were in full bloom!
