Sometimes, waiting or sacrificing things is actually just opening the door for God to grant us the desires of our hearts in a spectacular way...

Arrivederci Roma

 The Colosseum

Yesterday, we headed into the city of Rome for a whirlwind tour of the major tourists sights... We knew we could not see it all in one day, so we decided to make the most of the short time we had and focus on the ancient center.

After a train ride into Rome, we landed at the Vatican.

The Vatican City, a country in the middle of Rome!

We then made our way to the center of the city and the famous Colosseum and Forum, which was the old center of Rome.  We wandered around the old town center and Thomas and Sarah both enjoyed their ancient history coming to life.

After having lunch in the Jewish Ghetto, we wound our way to the Piazza Navona and the Pantheon.  We then made a quick walk to the Trevi Fountain.  After a look at the crowds, it was insanely crowded,  we headed to the Spanish Steps and then back on the train toward home!

After a long and busy day, we enjoyed a quiet and lovely meal on the private little terrace at La Corte del Ceccottino, a lovely little restaurant back home in Pitigliano.

A lovely evening in Pitigliano... next stop, the Dolomites!
